A World of Cities

comic

Let us now take a look at Dartmouth, the city the story takes place in. Like it said in the first comic, Dartmouth is one of the Flannish cities, a region of Urbis roughly analogous to North-Western Europe during the Industrial Revolution (with the big difference that there are all sorts of city-states instead of nations... actually, that's only one of the differences, but I am getting ahead of myself here). The Flannish Cities are supposed to be the "default region" for Urbis - the region which is considered to be the most "iconic" of the setting, and the one with the most detail.

And Dartmouth itself is supposed to be the "default city" for the setting - it is the only city which I am planning to cover in detail for the setting's initial release. It is neither exceptionally large or small, but it will allow the game master to get a good idea what a "typical" city-state in Urbis is like, so that he can either use it as a setting for his own adventures or develop his own cities using it as a model.

But just because it is the "default" it does not mean that the city is "generic", "mundane", or even "boring"! I will develop the city further both in the comic and on the Urbis home page until it seems... well, not exactly "real", because this is a fantasy world, but nevertheless alive and with a character of its own.
